Full colour book which examines the importance of textile art today taking case studies from countries where textiles have traditionally been used as an expression of cultural identity and where there is a vigorous contemporary practice.
35 artists from Estonia, Finland, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania and the UK all contribute their understanding of their own practice and its relationship to textiles in their country. There are also essays from Professor Lesley Millar who curated the exhibition of the same name, country specific essays from Kai Lobjaks (Estonia), Leena Svinhuvud (Finland), Keiko Fujimoto (Japan),Astrida Berzina (Latvia), Virginja Vitkiene (Lithuania) and Dr Jennifer Harris (UK). Special features include in depth interviews with all artists.
