[email protected]Detailed Description
A beautiful book, with full colour illustrations throughout, which accompanied the exhibition of the same name at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. It contains essays by the exhibition curator Professor Lesley Millar on the nature of lace, boundaries and borderlines, architectural journalist Oliver Lowenstein on lace in architecture, lace experts Gail Baxter on the hidden narratives of lace and Carol Quarini on net curtains and the Gothic.
Other features are behind the scenes exchanges between the organisers and the artists; email exchanges between the curator and an architect, a composer and a film maker about lace, space and architecture; an installation insight. There is a section devoted to the work of each of the twenty artists from Brazil, Norway, France, Germany, Japan and the UK.
